Oulipo Poem
Acting almost always
Believing better beginnings
Count creative costs
Don't deliver danger
Ever engaging eagerness
Friends find foundations
Giving gorgeous gifts
Happily hugging hippos
Inside interesting inklings
Joker jetting jewels
Keeping careful concentration
Love livid lamentations
More marvelous makings
Never knowing nearness
Open on-going optimism
Pretending perfect pretenses
Quietly questioning queens
Really running ramped
Sensing sudden silence
Telling tension terror
Under universal umbrella
Vending very valuables
Working without wonders
X-ray xylophone X
Yonder yelling yesterday
Zipper Zing Zen

Picture based writing
"I wish i would have spent more time with him...
...when he remembered my name"
This is sad to think about. I think we should all live in fear of this every day. Well, not so much in fear of it as just being aware of it. The fact that you have a certain amount of time with the people you love. It could be until they are 80 years old and you've said all your goodbyes and you know it's coming, but who knows, it could be tomorrow. No one knows what the future holds and i don't even think we stop to consider it enough. Live today like tomorrow you wouldn't get to see her again, or hold his hand, or talk to your mom. Live today like it was the last time you got to go fishing with your dad, or play the sport you love with your teammates that mean so much to you, the last day you could give your sister a hug, or tell that person that you love them. Don't wait until it's too late, becuase that day could come so much sooner than you think. Let them know. say how much they mean to you before they are gone and you can only wish. Why wish when you can make it happen now? Don't take that chance. They deserve your time, your love, your words of encouragement while they will still appreciate it. Imagine that person in your life not being there and all the things you wish you would have said to them, or done for them......go do it.

"A Smart Cookie" Response
I enjoyed this vignette a lot more the second time I read through it. At first the purpose seemed a little vague and it seemed to jump around a lot, but after the second read through it got a lot clearer. I think this piece is Esperanza's mother reflecting on her life and how she could have done so much more with it and how she actually "could've been somebody". She seems bitter and regrets not doing more with her life. She doesn't want her daughter to make that same mistake that she did and is telling her all this for that reason. She tells Esparanza to go to school and study hard in hopes that her daughter will make something of her life and "be somebody".
After reviewing this writing I found that there are two metaphores in it. As Esparanza's mother is singing in the kitchen Cisneros says she is Madadame Butterfly. Also, at the end of the story there is the metaphore of her being a smart cookie. She was a smart cookie when she was younger but let her life get away from her and doesn't want to see that in her dauter's life.
It was a pretty easy read. There was no confusing diction and it was pretty easy to see the purpose and meaning after thinking about it. I also think it portrays the feelings of a lot of people her age and how they feel. Sometimes it is hard to see that what we are doing with our lives is really important. If we don't do BIG things that are noticed by a lot of people sometimes it seems that our life is just kind of ordinary and common, but I think that lots of the little things are what make the biggest difference and mean the most to others.
